The Special One

I built this to be my own road bike which needed to be practical unlike many specials. It had to be something very different but with the intention of looking fairly stock.

It took around 6 months to build was finished in time for the 2007 May BMF Show. It was featured in a 4 page spread in the November issue of Streetfighter Magazine days before I wrote it off in the Lake District on a TLZone ride out when a friend hit a car head on and collected me in the carnage. Two months later it was re-framed and rebuilt with a few improvements such as a Marvic 5-Spoke front wheel, SV1000 top radiator, wavy discs and a few extra carbon bits.

I built the engine using mostly TLR parts for the stronger cases and gearbox aswell as the TLR water heat exchanger so the TLS oil cooler could be omitted for the extra radiator to keep the tuned engine cool in traffic. The finished engine was custom mapped via the PCIII on both front and rear cylinders and puts out 129Bhp at the rear wheel at 9k, the max torque was 77ft/lb at only 7k....making it a bit lively over crests !
