The tail of the bike needed raising to give
enough clearance above the rear tyre and the exhaust can to
allow a decent amount of suspension travel. I ended up raising
the tip of the tail by 50mm which gave about 30mm extra above
the tyre. This was done firstly by cutting the lower subframe
rails and welding in two 10mm bush's, then filing flat before
the whole lot been powder coated.
After the crash I had to make another subframe and this time I
used the old bent one as a donor for the lower mounting lugs and
machined them to fit a new subframe with part of the lugs
machined off. This ensured any further damage would be much
easier in future to repair and also gave some options for
altering the degree of lift by adding shims if needed.
